Founded in 1914 to help newly arrived immigrants integrate into their new lives in Los Angeles, the International Institute of Los Angeles provides assistance to refugees and immigrants. Some of our clients have been survivors of Human Trafficking. We assist them to secure a new, safe life by providing a range of services securing legal residence in the U.S.

Our LIFE program (Local Integration & Family Empowerment) primarily assists people who have been compelled out of their homes and are now refugees seeking a new life in America. Refugees face many barriers to success, which we help them overcome: employment, parenting skills, housing, food, medical care, learning English, financial literacy, consumer awareness, to name a few. The Immediate Needs Transportation Program provides subsidized rides to more than 160,000 low-income persons a year.

Our legal services unit employs bilingual attorneys and paralegals who help clients navigate the complex set of rules and laws to be reunited with immediate relatives, such as spouses, and become Legal Permanent Residents of the U.S. and U.S. Citizens. Our attorneys represent low-income applicants who are seeking political asylum, or who are facing potential deportation. Radical changes in immigration law and procedures requires deep expertise, mastered by our staff.
